My translator said some nice things to me the other day. I thought it would be nice to share them here: share with you another person’s experience of my way of working. His name is Pradip and it was during our last dinner, after 10 days working together, that he said to me “There are two things I have really admired in your work during this trip.”
Consultations
You are really there for the other person, totally focused on helping them. Empty of yourself.
Teaching
You are so generous. You don’t hold back anything. You share whatever you feel will be helpful without trying to keep some things hidden from students. As much as you know you are willing to share.

PS I can add that what I love about Pradip is his smile and open heartedness. He is not a professional translator – he is a musician. But his presence adds warmth and sunshine to the group – that counts for a lot. In addition he too always gives as much as he can
