Today 15th June there is a full moon lunar eclipse – a moment when the Sun, Earth and Moon are in a perfect line, the earth in the middle, casting a shadow on the moon.
A Light on the Shadow
What is so wondrous about this though is that the Moon does not disappear – it becomes pink. This pinkness is actually a special kind of sunlight. It is the sunlight that would have flowed past the Moon but has instead been curved by the gravity of planet Earth and is now refracted onto the surface of the Moon. The pinkness cast on to the moon is that of countless sunrise / sunset moments on Earth as she spins on her own axis while the eclipse occurs. It seems to me a moment for the moon to become more intimately connected to the Earth. A chance for the vibrations of our current consciousness – the psychic imprint swirling in our atmosphere – to be carried to the Moon with the sunlight.
Winter Solstice
The last full moon lunar eclipse was on the day of Winter Solstice 2010 – just 7 days after B108 was born. At that time the news was full of Julian Assange and Wikileaks. This focus brought the question of how much the hidden should be illuminated into the global consciousness? It seemed to me at that time that a lunar eclipse was a perfect metaphor for this question as the hidden shadow had the light shone upon it. Now we are on the threshold of the Summer Solstice and we have another full lunar eclipse. Let us see what this eclipse reveals. Just now on the BBC they had an interesting item on what they called “Black Swan” events – when the unexpected erupts on to the world stage. Today it was conflict on the streets of Athens which may bring down more than just a Greek Prime Minister. The other big example they used was the revolutions of the Arab Spring – all arisen since B108. Lunar eclipse – black swan – something revealed from the hidden – all seems very fitting to me.
Turning Tide
Not only is 18 is the number of The Moon in tarot cards but one of the names for Equilibrium bottle B18 is Turning Tide. As I think about it now winter and summer solstices are the turning points in the year. Two full moon lunar eclipses on the turning tide points of the year in the time of 108.
